Toyota Auris 1.6 V-Matic Excel
Discussion
I used to have a 2016 Auris hybrid as a company car, so can't comment on the standard 1.6 petrol powertrain, but can hopefully give you some basic insight into the car. It's dull, no getting away from that, but a very easy car to live with, really light steering, good driving position, nice ergonomics, so on that basis it's easy to recommend if you just want to get from A to B. The interior wasn't great though, mainly hard plastics with some rough edges, mine was a facelift version and some effort had clearly been made to tart it up a bit, but it was still far from the best in class. I'd still say ergonomics (position of buttons, etc) is better than the Focus though. Refinement from mine was decent, no real complaints there, but again I suspect not best in class - TBH that seems to be a running theme with the Auris, jack of all trades but master of none.
What's your budget? If you can get a hybrid, I think that may well be a better option (according to most reviews). I'd also look at the Mazda 3 and Civic, not driven either but they strike me (from reading reviews) as cars that are similarly reliable but more engaging to drive and live with.

Thanks for that, the car I have seen is only local. I’ve looked at the Civic, I don’t really like the shape of it tbh. It’s nice inside though. I don’t really like the Mazda. I did look at a Focus but I think they are quite common, so I wanted something a little different, as the Auris sort of stands out.
