First time posting here, tried having a look at other threads but nothing fits my requirements.
I need an estate to replace my 54 plate 320d which is never going to pass the emissions test on my MOT in November. Budget is up to £5k but would preferably spend £2-3k. No major miles as I walk to work but with a child due in October, I need something reliable, that is also not completely dull. Also, my wife is HOPEFULLY going to pass her test this Summer, so need something that isn't going to cost the Earth in insurance.
Lots of requirements I know, which is why I'm struggling.
I just miss my Mk3 Golf GTi, damn thing rusted out on me!

If you'd prefer to stick closer to the £2-3k I would go for a Golf Mk5 estate with the 2.0 TDI 140 CR engine from the Mk6 as they seem very solid, e.g. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
