Hello PH, I've been a lurker on this site for a few years now and finally feel I have a car that is PH worthy to share
I'll start off with a brief history of the cars I have owned so far
My first car was a Citroen DS3, it was the 1.6 120hp normally aspirated model with a five speed manual box, you really had to rev it to get places and overtaking required planning and quick reactions. I learnt a lot driving that car and was sad to see it go, but very excited to collect its replacement
Over here in Northern Ireland there is a thriving VAG scene with several large shows in the summer, I have been going to these for years and developed a real hankering for a fast Golf
After finding my perfect spec MK7 Golf GTI (Red Performance Pack DSG with a great spec) over in England I was set... only to find it sold a day before I could get over to view it
The search for a new car continued for a few weeks after this, but I could not find another GTI with that spec anywhere near the price of the red one. It was then pointed out to me that the new Audi TT has the same drivetrain is the golf, but with a lower driving position, nicer interior and in the case of the car below a much lower price. I got this car a year old with 12000 miles on it, a 2.0 230PS manual front wheel drive model with the s line pack. Not the ultimate drivers car I know, but the looks combined with double the horsepower of the Citroen had me besotted after one test drive.
230HP may not be considered a lot in the modern day, but this car felt properly fast to me for my first few months of driving it. The front wheel drive TT misses out on the tricky VAQ differential that the Golf GTIs have, so traction in the wet was not great as the car would spin one tyre before the TC cut the power. However in terms of handling the new TT really does drive well, I had a lot of fun down my favourite roads in the car. My only compliant of the car really was the stiff ride, and somewhat hairdressery image. I kept the TT for a year and a half, covering 33000 miles in that time. I have since replaced it with this..
I ended up buying a car in St Albans and collecting it and driving it back to Northern Ireland, it's a year old with 7000 miles on the clock. I've had the car for about a month now and I am absolutely loving it. I look forward to every drive in it and usually don't want to get out, the short shift, the way the boost builds as you climb the rev range and the steering and agility are just addictive. The way this car gets down a b road is obscene, and so far as I can tell it's limits are far beyond mine.
Before choosing a Type R I test drove a Golf R the same day, whilst it was impressive, it just felt dull and not special at all compared to the Civic. The driving position, the looks and even the handling just aren't on the same level. After driving the Civic, the golf R felt like a normal hatchback whereas the Civic felt like something special. I am aware that the looks divide opinions, but I'm 22 and through my childish eyes it looks fantastic. I have also had quite a lot of people comment on the car and all the comments were positive, I would definitely say they look better in the flesh than in pictures.

Gorgeous car and really suit that blue! Can understand the mixed views on the looks they won’t be for everyone but I think they look great and glad Honda are still making wild lairy looking cars as all other manufacturers have gone bland and boring imo. Really considering one of these next.
