Fantastic car however I’m 5 feet tall and cannot depress the clutch comfortably using the standard seat. Does anyone have any ideas other than lying down to drive. This is a problem because the I cannot see over the dash when lying down (not good with a 0-60 of 5sec).

I’ve had a quote of £300 to reupholster the existing seat; with extra padding this could help.

I've heard that the cobra “roadster 7” seat fits and will offer more padding and improve my driving position. An email from cobra this morning confirmed none of their seats fit into the elise.

Are there any seats on the market that will do the job?

Can I alter the existing seat runners to get me better driving position?

You can get a seat booster from your dealer. My short arse wife has the same problem so I will be talking to Andrewm about ordering one.

You can turn the seat runners round which moves you an inch or so further forward which might help.

The runners stay the same way round but the extension at the front is put at the back and vice versa (you need to put the T-Piece at the back still!)

This will gain you about 1.5 - 2 inches. I'm about to do it to mine so my wife can drive (5ft1).

I've also got Exige seats in mine but the padding levels are similar to the 111S seats. If you have the standard seats you can buy a seat insert from Corbeau which adds 111S style padding to a standard seat. Simon at Brooke Kensington sells these, and I'll be popping in there this week to show him the runners turned around for another of his customers.

Bell&Coleville do a seat pad/booster cushion set for about £70 IIRC which was invented to help people in your situation.
Check out www.bell-colvill.co.uk/ and follow the link to Lotus/online cataloge/interior re-trim.

Oh, and you could try bolting a spacer block to the pedal.

alunr: Sounds like I need to buy some spanners and adjust the runners. Either that or miracle grow. I’ve tried adding my own foam padding but I lose too much lateral support.

Davey: my wife says you’ll never drive in those heels.

Monaco are you Damon Hill?

Thanks for all your help and humour.

5mm & 6mm Allen Key to remove the seats, can't remember what size for the nuts. Really easy job but take it VERY easy on the bolts that hold the seat to the floor as they are easy to cross thread...
