T/A Gearing and General Questions
Discussion
The CMS folks (T/A builder) are asking me some questions that I am not quite sure how to answer.
A) Snout - short, or long?
B) What ratio for first gear?
The used G50/52 that I am starting with had no snout. Also, first gear and the main shaft are being replaced. So, I can choose the snout length and first gear ratio.
If memory serves, the long snout is the way to go? On first gear, I am shooting for 1,000 rpm to equal about 9-10 mph. And 7500 rpm is about 63 with 25.7" tires. Is that reasonable, or too much? There won't be much "city" driving. The proposed teeth count is 13-34.
A Quaife will be installed with this box.
Thank you,

I suspect the ratio is not to important as your not in that gear for long enough unless your looking to lay down some 0-60 records.
I've not heard good or bad about the snout you just need to know so the factory can supply the correct gearbox rear mount frame.
