I have only had my car a couple of weeks and it’s my first automatic.

The sports button changes the performance of the car leaving it in auto.

When I push the lever to the left the DS appears on the display. The car continues to drive in auto. Is this the same driving mode as pushing the sport button?

When I push the lever forward or back it goes to manual. This gets overridden if you drive too slow or too fast in a particular gear.

I can also push the sports button when in the manual mode too. Not sure whether this has any affect?

Finally, does the sport button affect steering and suspension? Car feels firmer in this mode.

Thanks,

Miss Modded

I've got a 630i so can assist smile The Sport button puts both the gearbox and throttle into sport mode, so as well as blocking off 6th gear and hanging onto gears longer, the throttle becomes much more responsive to inputs. Pushing the gear selector over to the left only puts the gearbox in sport mode but leaves you with the normal throttle response. In manual mode, pressing Sport will put your throttle pedal into sport mode. It doesn't affect steering or suspension as we've got ordinary dampers and hydraulic steering and even with Active Steering and Dynamic Drive it still only affects the gearbox and throttle.

Miss Modded, that’s great. I have read the user manual and it was not clear. I have experimented but couldn’t nail the difference 👍
