Just listening to some Jack/Sam FM - the only station on pauper FM (no DAB here) that plays a great mix of older music for them that are getting on.

All of a sudden Beat it starts up, it made me realise just how good some of his music was.

I then got to thinking, if he had been found guilty of doing strange things to young boys that the world would be missing out on some great music.

This then made me think of Gary Glitter, I used to love his music but you don't hear any of it now which is actually a shame. Of course there is a risk that many more of our childhoold favourites will be consigned to the inappropriate for radio bin whenever the press need the next bit manhunt and in the current "Me Too" climate it has started to happen.

Me too clearly has some very serious issues to address but it has gone too far when a simple wolf whistle could land you in hock - I'm glad I've got a few of Kevin Spacey's better films saved on DVD before they disappear from the shelves too.

I wonder what others would miss if the star was found to be a bit of a nonce.

It's very odd that paedos are just whitewashed from history, despite how good their actual work might have been.

Rolf Harris was a brilliant entertainer. All his telly stuff was just great. It's a real shame that kids will miss out on it, as it's unlikely ever to be shown on tv again.

I think it's fairly well accepted that there was only a rather massive payout between the two scenarios you posed.

Jake the peg, with his extra leg.

Then there's his beastiality/bondage fetish. Tie me kangaroo down, sport.
Mick Hucknall shares those tastes - Holding back the ears, Bunny's too tight to mention.

I'm more than glad that paedophilic nonces likes the aforementioned are no longer broadcast. They betrayed the trust of many and crossed a line with their despicable behaviour.

While it might be fair to say they once had some talent, this doesn't excuse their behaviour and if someone wants to be entertained by nonces then there are plenty of ways of doing this without relying on public broadcasts (and the royalties the licence fee would provide them with).

Still hear the odd resurgence of Lost Prophets songs, but quite frankly I can't listen to the lyrics now without second guessing the nature of them...

I gather the Glitter Band could have lived on the royalties from their songs but these days it's tough to get beyond their association with Gary.

Pete Townsend ruined The Who for me, what with all his “book research”.

IMHO you cannot separate the art and the artist - as it were. I won't stop anyone listening to what they want - but I can't decouple them in my consciousness.

Which is a bugger as I liked Lost Prophets - ne'er mind - the aspect is hardly important in the grand scheme.

I agree about Gary Glitter some of his stuff is simply evocative of my childhood (err no pun intended)
I was on you tube and came across a comment about TOTP presenters. Basically it said "bring back the noncers u got good music in their shows"
I know I know its not right

He may not have been convicted courtesy of chucking millions at the parents of those he fiddled, but sod him, I stick him in the peado music exile bin with the rest of em.

Thankfully, Easy Star All Stars, cover of Thiller and a couple of Tracks done by Ian brown are infinitely better than the original peado tunes so no big loss.

Been watching the old Top of the Pops re-runs on BBC4 for years now and none of the Savile ones have been shown.

You'd think they could just edit his bits out and show the bands rather than just not broadcast the whole show. confused

I'll also miss seeing those old International It's a Knockout clips because of Stuart Hall. frown

Personal take on it is they just grabbed money - Did they go to bed together, probably but that doesn't mean there was any sexual conduct. No different to my daughter coming to bed with me or getting in the bath.

You would think that.
There are some really great ones out there on You Tube.

I thought of them pretty much as soon as I opened this thread. Really liked their music but the piece of scum needs to rot.
I do feel sorry for the rest of the band though and I still appreciate their music, but have to admit I feel guilty if I do listen to it.
