From memory the limit does drop near Northolt and yes there are cameras in several locations along the A40 .
It's 25 yrs since I lived in the area and most of my visits since have been in commercials .

Didn’t that whole Section of A40 into town go average speed most of the way?

There are average speed cameras starting at the Polish War Memorial turn off (start of 40 limit) all the way to Marylebone Road, ie over the elevated section.

Have they put the ones in on the elevated section now?

I know the signs say they’re there but they weren’t in Feb.

PGPS shows camera locations at both ends and covering both sets of on/off ramps, and judging by the speed people are driving they are live.

Last time I was there, a few weeks back, the A40 past Northolt airfield was 60 Eastbound and 70 Westbound. No cameras so far as I know but there is often a police car parked on the slip road that joins the A40 Eastbound just before the airfield. You can only see it in your mirrors and when you are past the junction.

That's my recollection.

My recollection is that the 60 started near the bridge.

It used to be 70 both ways past the airfield. Then during the Olympics it changed to 50 both ways, then back to 70 west but 60 east. I'd be fascinated to know the discussions behind it all but suffice to say it wouldn't surprise me if it's changed again since my last trip.

The 50 limit kicks in a couple hundred meters before the junction for the war memorial; first average cameras appear thereafter all the way into town. I'm regularly passed on the Northolt straight whilst sat at 60 so I wouldn't sweat it OP.

Going into town, there's a camera just after the Swakeleys turn off, then nothing else until the average speed cameras start at the Polish War Memorial. There are no cameras as you drive past RAF Northolt, which is before the PWM.

That's been gone for a couple of years.

There used to be a camera just before the Polish R/A (RAF Northolt) when it turns to a 50, but that has been gone a while. Now just av speed cams starting at the junction. You'll be ok OP.

I think I should be alright then I just panic to much cause any points on my licence makes my already expensive insurance higher and getting a new car in 19 days which is faster and more expensive to insure this wouldn’t help
