Hello,

I have a G4 iBook and was wondering if I can wirelessly link it to an Apple Display?

Also, can the Apple displays show a TV signal from my digibox?

Cheers

You can, but it involves a piece of video editing kit that costs about £200.

I'll try to find the link and post it!

Not directly, which is why I went for the cheaper HP F2304, which uses the same LG 23" LCD panel as the Apple cinema display. Nothing like as nicely designed, but has S-Video and RGB video inputs as well as analogue and digital DVI. Screen quality is identical as far as I can tell

Edited to add - you can then add on a wireless transmitter and receiver to transmit from your cable/satellite tuner to the monitor - I use a cheap Philips unit

I was looking at the HP one but I decided on the Apple for three reasons...

1) The cheapest I could find the HP was £1120, whereas the Apple was £1050 (actually got it for £945 after 10% discount voucher used at the Bull Ring Applestore last night).

2) The Apple is narrower as it doesn't have the built-in speakers.

3) I didn't need all the extras for input, just needed to connect it to my G5.

The Apple design is certainly nicer. I found the HP for a grand, this was before the last round of Apple price cuts, so went with it. I wanted to display high-definition video shoots from a Sony HDV camcorder at full resolution, for me the RGB inputs are a big plus. It's a shame that, although the it has firewire built in, the Apple unit won't display HD through that, it's just a hub

You get some modulators which do just that. Have a browse about Dabs / Aria / Insight and see what you come up with.

However as mentioned, it's best to get one with it already built in.

I've got my Iiyama TFT which has 2x DVI but it also has an AV input as well as an S-Video which works very well with a decent set of speakers and a freeview box.

It's an Iiyama AS4637UT 18.1" TFT. They don't make them anymore but check out Iiyama's product range. It's very good and they provide excellent support plus their products are amongst the best I think.

www.iiyama.co.uk/pages/content.asp?SID=&NAV=236&DOC=0&PAGE=0&PCAT=0&PROD=2232&SPCAREA=&CE=undefined

Keep in mind though....Iiyama isn't exactly the cheapest TFT supplier about. I paid about £700 for my TFT about 2 years ago now but it's well worth every penny plus you get an excellent range of features.
