Just sold my TVR Tuscan after owning for 6 years and I want to replace with another toy that is a bit more practical and usable. To be honest I prefer the appearance of the Cayman however current wife suggests Boxster is better as convertible. I guess after the Tuscan that was best of both world with hard top or no top she is right.....

So plan is to Bank a portion of the Tuscan Money and spend the rest on new toy.
Lets say I spend £15k or so . I would like a manual car and seems most likely Boxster to get the roof off experience.

What should I buy. Seems there are 2.7 and 2.9 engines as well as 3.2 and 3.4 engines ?
The Tuscan I had was an utter brute so I do want plenty of go but much better handling hence the Porsche hunt.

Can I have some advice with this sort of budget , that I could stretch if there was a good reason.

Many thanks

David

I started with a 981 Boxster so better advice will be forthcoming. Boxster models of all ages are fantastic to drive. Coming from a TVR you will miss the sound, but it’s replaced by a lovely F6 sound which howls at high revs. The big difference is the handling which is sublime in any Boxster. My advice is get the newest you can afford, mileage isn’t critical with good service history. Good luck in your search!

Early 987 3.2 and a couple of £k for minor mods and maintenance fund.

Gen 2 onwards if you can stretch to it.

Not many of them around at £15k.

Why I said stretch if you can.
But agree not many around at 15 k
Good luck with whatever you buy.
Best advice get it checked out by either OPC or a really good Porsche specialist can save heartache and save you money .

You can get a really nice 987.1 for that, not quite enough for a 987.2.

The Boxster engines are lovely but likely very different to your TVR, you really need to rev them to get the pace, you may find the 2.7/2.9 a bit lacking in torque, but they aren’t slow once you do get the revs going.
