[quote=jvaughan]Right, have decided to hold my own speed protest. I intend to drive to and from work (Via the M3) at between 60 - 70mph.
Hey, I'm on for this (been doing it for years really). I'll be starting at the Hockley Link near Winchester at 0820 tomorrow, finishing at Juntion 4A approx 0845. Does that suit you? In fact, I'm gonna have a practice tonight starting at 4A at 1740 and ending at Hockley approx 1810. Look out for the green Ka doing 69.5mph and 49.5 mpg.

I passed you on a completly traffic free route at well over 70MPH whilst reading a book and supping coffee. I even nodded off at one point but this still didn't change my pace.
It was all perfectly legal too.
My own road protest is bliss

well done. you are a law abiding citizen. here, have a medal.
wellllll, if we all did it, the govt would think investing in revenue generating cameras was a waste of money as the speeding fines drop to zero. i tend to do go-slows when there's a 4x4, MPV or xenon car behind me.

I've got low profile tyres on my G40 which makes the speedo read faster than normal. Hence, I sit at '85 mph' when, in reality, I'm probably doing low 70s and not really speeding.
Apart from all the cars belting past me I think I'm 'making progress' every time I look at the speedo and it's reading 85.

If everyone had a speed protest for the month of May, where they didn't speed at all - stuck to the limits like glue, no matter how rediculous the limit was, just think - the scamera's would have no money. It would actually cost them to run them.
I think of the scamera man in the van pointing at cars (in a 50mph limit).....49.5 b'stard......49.1 b'stard.........49.9 b'stard......49.3 etc etc. Why do I think this scenario is funny?
It's just a shame I will never do as I'm told and I'll drive according to how I see fit, not how some pen pusher sandel wearing, lentil muncher in an office thinks.

They get you both ways. If they catch lots of people they say 'Speed cameras are really doing their job'. If they don't catch anybody they say 'Speed cameras are really doing their job'.
Either way they keep their job and fat pension; you get your arse on the grinder of compliance.

and then they could find something else to psend the money on. Like Policemen on the streets* or whatever is the flavour of the week on pistonheads....
its really simple folk, drive under 70mph, nobody gets a speeding fine. if you need to be somewhere for a certain time, leave earlier or be late.
* i am being ironic, they will of course find something else to waste it on like commissioning artworks as centrepieces for roundabouts
