Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDI
Discussion
Hello everyone,
after selling my Alfa Romeo (https://www.pistonheads.com/members/showcar.asp?carId=257882) last year I soldiered on without a car for 10 months.
The reason for selling it was that I had to pay back some money to my dad and its better to be without a car but debt free than to have both
The Alfa was always a car for the weekend, was not driven by me that much Mo-Fr.
I have looked at a veriety of cars, from 70s Mercedes, W124 Mercedes E28,E34 BMWs but then decided to get something small and economical.
My first ever car was a 2002 Skoda Fabia in silver which I only had for 3 months.
So I went on the lookout for another one.
What I found and bought is a 2006 Skoda Fabia 1.4TDI, the 80PS version.
I bought it from its original owner with 55564 miles on the clock.
It has dings and scratches but mechanically wants only a new clutch soon and maybe new front driveshafts (not sure yet on these)
I have driven my first 300 miles and the overall MPG stands at 60.
The lowest I had for a day (100 miles) was 69MPG, but I'm sure less is possible.
600+ miles per fillup should be well within reach.
The first thing I added to the car was a Sony XAV-AX100 head unit with which I can use Android Auto and which helps modernise the interior a lot.

These are easy enough to do DIY.
Get yourself a Galleto cable & head over to blacksmoke.co.uk
You can purchase remap file for £45 to upload via the cable & a netbook to your car. Look in the 75bhp section of the online shop
To date I’ve mapped a Leon 110, A3 140 & an A4 130tdi for friends/family. All have been faultless.
Including a cable you are talking something under £75. Bargain of the century
