Just bought a year old Leon ST with 14k on the clock. It is my workhorse and I cover 30k miles a year. Are these engines good for high mileages?
I already massively prefer it over my 14 plate Astra which had had enough at 120k.

A quick scan of Autotrader and there are currently half a dozen examples of VAG cars with the 2010> 1.6TDI lump on over 200k and 50+ that have over 150K.

As with all engines if it's maintained correctly then you'd hope to prolong the life but there is always a chance of random component failure which on a bad day can be catastrophic or just an inconvenience.

Too early to say as the latest EA288 variation of the 1.6 TDI has only been around since 2015, so very few will have covered much more than 100k! However from what I've seen it's faring better than it's 'dieselgate' EA189 predecessor which wasn't as solid as you'd hope for a VW TDI.
