I’m coming up to my 3rd year driving and I’ve got about 6k saved up that I want to spend on getting something nice to drive to and from uni (I live 4 hours away from my uni.)

Ideally I’d like something that’s cooler looking than my current 57 plate fiesta. Is there any saloon type car that would be decent on price and insurance that anybody knows of?

Cheers

I knew having a saloon was wishful thinking haha

I really like the Audi A4s but is there any version that aren’t soft tops? I’ve never really been a huge fan of them.

Also I was told that Alfa’s can be quite unreliable? Is that just a myth or is there some basis behind it.

Thanks for the help tho

I’ve also been looking at facelifted ford focuses but have been unsuccessful in finding one that is cheap enough

Old Alfas were unreliable the newer stuff is pretty much on par with anything else out there in terms of reliability, yes you can get the A4's in saloon form:

My completely unhelpful (but honest) advice is, don't.

Keep the fiesta (assuming it's running ok). It'll spend most of it's time parked on a street, unloved in a ropey area (stereo-typing), whilst you're at uni anyway. In a year or three you'll have finished uni, got (maybe) some more years no-claims on your insurance, and you might have a bit more cash saved up (that you would have spent on higher insurance) - or you'll have spent that cash on stuff you needed / wanted (food, rent, women).

Boring advice, I know.

Dirt cheap, half the miles of the Germans, twice the ride comfort, it’s a Citroen so no one is going to key it, cheap to insure because they never get crashed. Pretty rare and will hoover up any motorway miles you’re doing in relaxed silent comfort

Cheers for the suggestions so far guys

I’ve thought about it and I’m thinking that it probably is a bit much to have something so different whilst I’m at uni. I’ve changed my search to hot hatch’s or just a smaller upgrade on my fiesta From a 1.2 engine to something like a 1.6.

I’m currently looking at focuses but I’m open to other suggestions
