Is there any race coverage broadcast on Freeview channels in France, or is it satellite only?

That's not what I'm asking! If it isn't on Freeview then fine, but does anyone know?

a very quick and easy google....

http://www.origin.infrontsportsaws.net/news/2017/0...

if they're digital channels then it's a TNT box, analog by aerial assuming France hasn't gone like UK yet?

It worked for us last year, though I did buy a cheapie French ‘Freeview’ box off Amazon along with a magnetic-mount antenna.

Worked well for us with a mini projector and 80” screen!

Last year we went down to FNAC in LM centre and bought a freeview DVB box. It worked fine but there was no coverage. Worth noting the French use a different Freeview standard to the UK (they're on their second generation) and you'll need one of theirs.

Eurosport from Astra 19.2E is the way to go. A camping sat-dish isn't hard or too expensive - you might even be able to find an old Sky dish and mount it on a bit of scaffold. We've just picked up a free-satellite box for £20 on eBay.

Standard Freeview tv works here in France no problem.
I have an LG and a Panasonic both pick up France freeview no boxes at all.

IIRC that's because the TV has capable software, but a UK freeview "box" won't.

Five minutes googling and I reckon a dish pointing at Astra 1 at 19.2E and this...

Clicky

Should get German Eurosport on your TV, but it will have German commentary. Just mute and turn up Radio LM.

Unless someone tells me I wrong of course! hehe

I've got an Elgato EyeTV W, which picks up Freeview and links to my iPad. The spec sheet suggests they think it'll work in France, so I'll take it and see.

No big deal if not, there's always the TV in SpeedChills.

Except that it completely misses the brief.

Output Flange - I bought this: Tempo 3000 DVB-T2 DVB-T2 Terrestrial Receiver, HD Compatible MPEG-4 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01MTS9XGR/ref=cm_sw_r... (no affiliation, I’m sure other boxes are available but I can run this one off USB)

Was able to receive the necessary channels with a normal TV antenna, no dish/viewing card needed.

I would think anything with a DVB-T2 (I.e. Freeview) receiver will do the job, just plug in an aerial and tune in.

PS. In answer to your OP:

Yes, it’s on French ‘Freeview’ for the next couple of years at least (France 2 and France 3) are the channels you want.

This is probably the best option as Eurosport have full 24 hr coverage and the warm ups etc. Reading the link earlier, France2/3 is only going to have about 15 hours coverage.

Be warned... getting the dish lined up is a pig without a satellite measuring thingy... about £10. Still I'll be trying the free to air too. even if you have a proper compass to start with!

This still works, I tested it yesterday. And this is what we have been doing for the last 8 years.
