Hey Everyone

I'm just thinking of getting some ideas for our next family car.

Currently got volvo v40 r design d3. Although we really like it, it is a little on the small size.

What do people reccomend, suggest or have that is suitable as a family car and is bigger than v40?

I'm open to any suggestions but would prefer something still maybe on the sporty side or has bit of grunt.

Thanks everyone

Probably what I would get part ex on my 15 plate v40 and bit more to add.

Part ex maybe say 10k + bit more to add.

Loads of choice at that budget.

Staying with Volvo..

V60
V70
XC60

Or any mid sized estate car would be ideal

eg. Passat, Mondeo, Avensis, C Class, A4/A6 Avant etc....

We have had a Mondeo, V70, Avensis and at present a V60 as our family car and they've all been excellent for what they do.

comfortable, cheap to run, reliable, plenty of space....

Just drive a few and see what you like the most.

Many thanks for suggestions.

Do you know if these suggestions would be good for two small children and their car seats etc? I think that is the one the issues with the v40 as we could fit two car seats in but boot is only just big enough for one pram and not much else.

An estate is certainly something to consider, wonder if they are more versatile than an mpv.

How do you find the v60 boot?

I'd say go for the Mondeo in Titanium X Sport form it'll have all the space you need be reliable & a decent steer to boot, the disadvantage with them is that because they're so good they hold their money well.

The value for money options are the Insignia & Mazda6 (which is based on the Mondeo) with the Insignia they need to have a flush put through every other service so the pickup doesn't get clogged.

Our Vw Passat has been without doubt the most reliable and versatile car we have had.
I handles well, the boot is cavernous and the leg room in the rear is such that you don’t get the kids kicking your seat backs!
It is very well built we got ours new 5 years ago and it has only every needed servicing and consumables now at 176k miles

M5 and a multimac in the rear. Works for us!

Ok slightly cheating as we also have a very leggy and ancient volvo xc90...it's a brilliant thing for hauling everything you could ever want and surprisingly comfortable on longer runs. Turning circle is a joke and parts are very expensive but...I'd buy another.

It's a good size.
It's midway between a V40 and V70.
