Face cover for smart watch (not Apple Watch)?

Hi there
Getting my son a Nokia Steel smartwatch for his birthday (there are pros and cons, but he wants it, so it is done). However, he can be quite rough-and-tumble. So I was hoping to find a case/strap a little like this:
Unfortunately, the smartwatch needs an open back (so it can sense the wearer), and I can only find these cases/straps/covers with a fully-enclosed back.
It may be that my Google skills are defeating me, but has anyone come across such a thing that covers only the face? It obviously doesn't need to be leather, doesn't need to look or function exactly like that in the picture. I'm just keen to see if there's a way to limit the chances of the facing become scratched/smashed on some rocks!
