Ford Fiesta Zetec Climate - yay or nay nay nay?
Discussion
Hi chaps, first time poster here so do be kind.
I'm about to pass my driving test soon so in the market for my first car. I initially wanted (like really, really wanted) an mk6 Fiesta Zetec S but as it turns out, at £1000-odd sale price and £1800 insurance, they're a tad bit too expensive. Now seriously considering a mk6 Zetec Climate despite their lack of a cool bodykit. I've also realised that two years' worth no claims with an average car would also put a Fiesta ST in my reach, hahaha!
I can't find any threads for the Zetec climate on here, is that a good/bad thing? Does anyone have anything good to say about this fine ride?

I drive a prefacelift 1.25 5 door zetec climate (on the third year I have been driving it since I passed test at 17). It's the engine to get along with the 1.4 petrol but beware they are both extremely slow
However it is still by far the best small car to drive I have tried including audi a3, corsa, hyundai i30, renault clio etc. Everything feels just right... the steering is quite heavy and has a good amount of feel, the gearshift is not perfect but is easy for a new driver and the clutch is very easy to get used to. I much preferred driving it to my instructors 66 plate clio. It's a very easy car to drive and handle better than they have any right to.
But they are very slow... perfect for new drivers
Make sure the cambelt has been done, usual regular servicing etc and watch for a little bit of rust behind the door seals and you're golden

Good shout. I had a Mk5 Fiesta with the 1.25 engine as a runabout a few years ago, good little car. Yes, it wasn't particularly quick, but it didn't feel slow either (unless loaded up).
Go for the Mk6 Zetec as above, it'll be a good first car. Build up your experience and (hopefully) no claims, then in a few years time you can move on to an ST if that's what you want
