I’ve never had a pcp before, so bear with me...

Skoda Karoq 1.5 Petrol with about 1100 of options (tow bar etc).

Skoda calculator states 316.82 pcm for 36 months with a 15k mileage limit and 6k down.

Is that about the right area? Its list price is £26,415 incl. options.

I went on carwow and a local dealer is offering a PCP based on a list of £24,591. Under the same terms as above I assume this would pro rata the monthly payment down to c. 300, but haven’t yet been to see them, would just like your thoughts up front, forewarned is forearmed and all that...

Many thanks

Chris

Over £14k for 3 years in a Karoq sounds very expensive!

No way of judging without knowing what the GFV is

Final payment if I wanted to own it after 3 years (on the undiscounted version) is 11,708 - is that what you mean?

I think it would be cheaper to lease. There's a big thread running on the car buying section with good sites to find lease deals, but to keep it simple this is a bricks and mortar Skoda dealer that also specialise in PCH:

https://www.simpsonsskoda.co.uk/pch-offers/karoq-s...

I'm not sure what spec car the PCP is quoted on, but for that SEL 1.5 TSI is £239pm with £2490 down for 2 years. I have no doubt that an online broker will offer a better price, however that's the start of a slippery slope!

ETA - I leased my Skoda Octavia from a Skoda dealer in Jan this year, having only ever bought cars for cash. Ordered on the phone, zero hassle, my car was delivered to my work car park as agreed and has been perfect. Brand new VRS TSI for <£7k for 2 years!

I make it 36x 316 + 6000 dep = £17376

Which is actually nearly £500 per month, sounds like a dreadful deal, I would also consider leasing by the look of it - or anything better than that!

I’m paying less for a top spec cclass Mercedes. Lease one.

I have a 1.l Tech Pack on order on lease, 245 a month and 1600 down, with ISO fix and heated seats on order. At those prices, I'd certainly consider a lease car!

Fair points made by all. You may think I’m making a bad decision, but instead of PCP I’m about to buy a freelander 2 HSE. Will cost less and I get to actually own it.

that's not necessarily a bad idea at all!

Thread update - bought a 2014 Freelander 2 HSE today instead, 48k miles approved used with a 2 year warranty for £18k.

Thanks for the advice!
