Just ordered a brand new Ford Fiesta ST-3 and it's my first brand new factory order car. Do I let the dealership prep the car themselves? Let them remove all interior sheets? I'm really concerned about letting them wash it also, what would you guys recommend?

I think it would probably be better if you ask to supervise them doing the process.
What about registering & taxing the car ? I'd be conscious of them doing that as well

Just let them do their job. Inspect the car on collection, make sure you're happy with it then take it away.

It's not like it's an Astra VXR is it!? hehe

When we bought a new car for my wife, we asked the dealer to deliver it unwashed with all of the protection still on. We then took it to a detail (ph member) who removed the protections, corrected 1 paint fault and gave it the full Gtechniq ttreatment. That way I could be sure the car wasn't washed with a gritty sponge by an ape jealous of people who can afford new cars.

The car is now 18 month sold and looks like new

I genuinely think they will laugh at you, get them to PDI and check it on collection but be aware the paint on a Fiesta WILL NOT be perfect (the same on pretty much all new cars), expect imperfections and if you're that way inclined, get them sorted after collection.

What's wrong with a Ford Fiesta ST? Sorry I'm not spending £150k on a car and having it professional detailed. £20,000+ is alot of money to spend on a car for some people.

I've certainly heard of others doing that (including the infamous Astra guy) but also others who've been refused as the dealer said they needed to inspect the car. I know on one car we had the PDI, including ripping the car apart to fit an alarm that was standard on UK models, was done at the import centre, although I don't know if that would include removing all the protection.

I saw the prep area at the VW dealer we bought the wife's current Tiguan from and I was horrified. Several cars left idling with radios blaring loudly and an ape of a guy working on them. When we picked the car up it looked fine though, no swirls. And all the speakers worked!

Just ask them to leave the plastics on. It's not an unusual request these days.

If they are adamant about removal, just specify for them NOT to clean the car

Just let them PDi it, lets say you take it with all the plastic on the car then when its removed dents and scratches are found. You will then have a battle trying to prove who did them. I'd rather pick up a shiny new car with some swirls than one wrapped in plastic.
