Hi Guys, in the past 2-3 hours my son who is due to do a charity ride from France to Croatia, has had the CINELLI HOYHOY BOOTLEG bike stolen from his rear garden, can you keep your eyes peeled for it, in CARDIFF,
As you can imagine he is very upset and angry, HELP TO RECOVER IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Set up some saved searches on eBay, it will notify you if one pops up.

Try a couple of stolen bike blogs as well, if you haven't already.

Good luck!

CORRECT, but the photo was taken in Norfolk, and the bike went missing from a secure garden in Cathays CARDIFF, so its not as though someone off piston heads has pinched it, !!!!

Hi, my lad is big with all the social media platforms, so its posted on Facebook etc + posters around the Uni that he lectures at.
He managed to find a replacement bike to do his charity ride, so at least the low life scum bag drug addict thieving c**t hasn't stop his plans !!!

Checking this site is a bit easier, it finds all bikes listed on ebay or gumtree by search term and splits them out into dates listed and locations.

http://findthatbike.co.uk/

That said it can't check Shpock, fb marketplace or any other outlets the thieving bds have moved on to.

Doesn't work when they deliberately slightly mis spell the names to avoid searches either!

Hi Guys, bikes listed on a Stolenbikes UK website, BUT all the bikes stolen in the Cardiff area, (as was my sons) seem to be of the Gravel/off road style ???
is it possible thats because theres a big local (Brecon Beacons) Mountain Bike scene, just seems coincidental, possibly a gang that target this type of bike. ????

They'll steal anything bikewise of value.

Bike thieves aren't crack smoking junkies. I remember in the Alps one summer loads of bikes were being pinched with rumour that people were using the thefts to fund a summer stay on the trails then bikes in a van back to the UK, or Europe if Polish etc to sell. Pinkbike is awash with decent bike parts for sale in Europe.

I remember seeing three mountain bikers walking from balcony to balcony trying room doors - I shouted and they legged it.

If he's posted up anywhere about his planned trip he may have been watched, if he's on Strava? If still possible to track?

Or simply seen on his bike.

If you do find it for sale, go and nick it back - don't bother trying to get the police involved, pretend to be a buyer and then ride off on it.

I think he was seen on the bike and followed, as it was nicked out of his summer room, which was in a walled outside yard, and he was indoors marking essays. Got back from a ride, parked it, went indoors, 2 hours later went to the summer room and it was gone, thinks 2 involved, one over the wall then lifted and popped over wall to a second f*cker !!!. The trips still on as he's bought another bike to do the journey, good chap !!!!
