I’m a reasonably active 50 yr old that has been diagnosed last week with sciatica, which for the first two weeks has been absolute hell.my question is I have a lot of metal work in my left femur and hip due to a motorbike crash in 2009,where after 6 months they replaced the original pin in my femur due to it snapping!!! So my muscle in my thigh has been opened up twice.i am experiencing a hell of a lot of leg twitching/nerve pulsing and a lot of pain in my thigh at the moment is this all due to the sciatica and what can I do to help myself in the future.cheers!!

I hate it when people get "diagnosed" with sciatica. Sciatica is never a diagnosis, it is a symptom. There are many different conditions which can cause sciatica, and the treatment for each of those conditions can vary wildly, including exercises.

For example, someone suffering from sciatica due to neurogenic claudication may find significant relief in stretches including a lot of lumbar flexion, yet those suffering with disc prolapses would soon find their sciatica get worse doing the exact same exercises.

Sorry smile
