How much should I be paying for a replacement clutch approx inc labour and parts. Had a couple of quotes and they vary quite a lot.

Cheers

Sorry mate, meant to reply to this earlier and got caught up (work, tsk!).

If I were you I would wait until Crazycats comes back with a report on his refurbished clutch!

Read the thread 'life after ap clutch'.

Unless it is urgent you get this done now then I think it's worth finding out what happens as it could be the answer all Cerb owners are waiting for .

Thanks everyone,Duncan no rush my car is just a little difficult to get into gear. Maybe a clutch problem or something else!. Problem is car is under warranty if it's taken apart and it's found to be the clutch then I pay if it's the fingers or slave the warranty company pick up the tab. suppose I will hang on for a while.

Hang on for a little while longer as the fingers are sure to break like so many others (including mine) then your warranty can take care of it

My clutch cost me just over £500 and fitted it myself, also fitted new slave seals just in case but they are not that expensive.

It will depend on exactly whats wrong with it. If its the full clutch system- slave, master cylinders and fly wheel, then you are looking at around £1200 from a good indie. However, if its just teh salve or master cylinders, then i have had one/both of these replaced for around £600

I had a problem with a 4.5 cerb that was difficult to get into gear - especially when hot - turned out to need a gearbox repair

Any other problems other than difficulty getting in gear? I found that I was getting increasing "travel" on the actual pedal itself prior to engaging the clutch. I had a sweaty drive out to Silverstone TVR using the last inch of play and they found it to be only the seals. Lots of labour but minimal parts - lot cheaper than the whole deal! Plus, be warned: apparently if the system is going then the cylinders no longer ride true and begin to score one another incurring more and more damage.

Strange thing is I struggle to get the car in gear unless the clutch is pressed to the floor, but lifting of the biting point is probably mid way!

Try having a chat with Adrian at Central TVR - he did my car when I had a similar problem. Uncle Adrian's a top guy so worth knowing!
