To summarise:

Corolla T sport (2zzge), throttle cable was stiff and I could only apply the throttle in what felt like 4 or 5 increments, making pulling off and driving smoothly difficult. The cable also felt very rough, almost like pulling a wire through sandpaper.

I took the cable of the throttle body end and put some oil in the line, which seemed to cure the stiffness, however ever since doing that something hasn't felt right.

There's a delay between pressing the accelerator and getting the CORRECT response in relation to my pedal. It feels like the butterfly on the throttle body is playing catch up with the what up the cable is asking it to do, there's no slack on the throttle body end either.

Any ideas? It could almost feel like it's a dodgy MAF that has flat spots and then kicks into action, if that makes sense!

Thanks in advance for help

If the throttle body has a smooth action and the cable is worn, then replace the cable- There is no point lubricating it as the steel inner will have worn through the low friction lining in the sleeve and / or frayed causing a load of friction.

If you are still getting an inconsistent throttle response then you'll need to look at the throttle potentiometer but as your cable is worn out, start there.

You may also find that stiction in the throttle cable comes from frayed ends catching on the outer. That could eventually lead to either the throttle hanging open, or the cable breaking completely - both potentially dangerous. I suggest you replace the cable ASAP and check for any routing issues which might be causing excessive wear.
