BMW 650 - Run Flats
Discussion
Looking at new front tyres.
Car currently has run flats with no spare wheel.
Should I stay with run flats?
Been driving over 30 years and every flat tyre I have ever had has been caused by nails or screws. This can easily be temporarily fixed with spray can tyre weld.
Also, I believe if you drive with run flats on flat tyre, they cannot be re-used.
Run flats are around +£80 more each!
Any assistance appreciated.

I hit something in the dark on the motorway doing 70, luckily run flats so could continue with my journey which was about 5 miles away (slowly) but the car stayed stable as the tyre wall was shredded on my right front and lost all pressure. Had it been a standard tyre would the outcome have been the same?

I honestly couldnt tell you, the object i hit looked like a small block of white wood or stone which hit the car with a horrible bang. I asked tyre fitter when i went to collect my car about the damage (nothing was visible on the tread or outside tyre wall) and he just said the inside was shredded.
There was no discernible difference in driving after the bang, in a straight line anyway just the computer beeping about rapid pressure loss
