Can anyone identify this plane, me and my mate have a totally pointless bet on. I say it’s military and he says it’s a passenger plane! Who’s correct?

Whereabouts was it taken? Looks C17-ish to me.

It's a military passenger plane - you are both right smile

Actually, it's a C-17 Globemaster II.

The Globemaster II was the Douglas C-124.

I think there was a proposal for a civil freight version of the C17 back in the last century, in which case you would both be wrong, but as far as I know they didn't make any.

While the C17 can have a passenger role fit, it is primarily a freighter.

Thanks for the replies. Yes it was near Leeds Bradford! It has flown daily this week, sometimes quite high and probably not landing and then on two occasions flying very low and looking like it was probably landing. Two hours after sighting this plane on every occasion this week there has been two fighter jets flying close but quite high overhead but veer off to the east. It just got me thinking!!!

Yes - I know.

Many freighters can be converted to passenger configuration - as you no doubt know yourself. I was being a bit cheeky to the OP - you know, inserting a bit of humour.
