Apologies if this is in the wrong section. As per the title, last night I was in a non fault car. accident. Driver gave the police a statement that she had caused the accident.

My car has been collected and I am told it will be repaired by my insurance companies preferred network of repairers. But the online reviews suggest this may not be the best option.

It is a 16 month old M140 and I am worried that the repairs at a "do-it-all" type repair place will not be up to my standards. I have been told i can have it repaired anywhere. But the repairs will not be guaranteed by Insurance company. This is fine provided it goes to a reputable place. I have had complaints in the past at the quality of work on a previous car.

Can anyone recommend a repair garage ideally in the South east but can go further afield.

If it makes any difference it definitely needs, new wheel, new bumper, new control arms, new crash bar. Thankfully the impact did not warrant the airbags going off!

I'm not sure if they still do it, but when i had a the e39 530, i took it to D&T Wise in Bexleyheath, although they were called BMWise back then.
Speak to Danny (owner), and highly recommended.

Thank you all.

I wonder if anyone can help. The assessor has called and frankly, I think his assessment is a money making exercise more than it is a repair one.

The cost being quite high, and the amount of parts also seems extensive, but my real problem is that I have insisted on the parts all being genuine BMW as he told me radiators and suspension may be aftermarket.

Do I just have my car moved now? I think it may be too late. He said he will pass the message on to only use genuine BMW parts, but worried I may never know. Unless I get it on a ramp as soon as it comes back and take it all apart again. Biggest concern being how many long drives / track days I am likely to do in this car, so certainly do not want inferior suspension or coolant / radiator components. Or am I being overly precious?

Any advice appreciated.

edited to add: should tyres / suspension be replaced as a pair?
They said they are only replacing suspension and tyre on the damaged side.
Car has 20k miles and front tyres have probably done ~3k.

A long time back admittedly but when mine went to Cooper some things were done in pairs and others not.

Tyres were done in pairs
Hub and trailing arm was one side
Any bushes and shocks or anything that wears were done on both sides

Car did have 35k miles so was deemed to be a material difference considering the relative performance level of the car. Also helped it was a non-fault claim and was negotiated by the AMC.
