A5 rear sensor issue
Discussion
I've just pranged the right rear bumper of the car on a square wooden post. The dent is quite severe and there is separation from the bumper shell and the undercarriage.
The parking assist did not pick it up.
Tried a couple of times to replicate the issue - first time I did it, it did not detect the post. When I went to record it on the phone, it started picking it up.
I've had a look at the handbook, it says it should activate within 0.9m. I would guess (gonna measure) that it is not getting picked up until about 0.6m.
I am going to have a hard time proving the system did not work in the first instance.
The erroneous activation distance seems to be provable.
Any ideas where I stand with claiming faulty equipment with Audi, and therefore avoiding repair fees? It's a 2018 lease and still in warranty.
Thanks in advance.

It does, but it was a chunky square wooden post. The book does mention that certain things might not be picked up, but it picks up this post eventually.
It also mentions blind spots, but I collided a few inches to the side of the rear-side sensor so it would have been almost straight in front of that sensor.

I wouldn't waste another breath on that. You haven't got a prayer. Put the energy into finding a chips away /dentmaster smart repair type place to fix it instead. (or pray they won't notice when you return the car)
No chance as said. Specifically mentions this in the manual and stands to reason that smaller objects will not be picked up
Could be worse....my car is currently being repaired at Audi, it was in with them to repair an electric seat that broke while with them, went to get an update and was told....
We have some bad news for you sir.....we had an accident in our workshop, quite how they managed to do this is beyond me, especially with parking sensors
