We're taking the kids on holiday in a few weeks to a place with a pool. I can see a lot of time being spent there.
Both kids have swimming lessons but given privacy / rules etc we don't get chance to take photo's of them.

So we'd like to buy a camera to take pictures both in and around the pool.

Short video capability would be an advantage.

I saw a Go-pro for under £200 and while I've considered one before I'd always thought I'd go for top of the range which may be overkill for my needs right now. Although if the absolute best thing is to get a Go-pro then I'm sure I can be persuaded.

Any recommendations?

Bought my daughter a fujifilm xp120 which seems decent enough, certainly takes good pictures and is fast to start up etc.

I bought one of these for my 11 year old son, works well in the pool on holiday: https://www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer/cameras-camc...

I went over budget and bought an Olympus Tough and remain pleased with it.

We have the FT-50 and it's brilliant, and seems indestructible.

GoPro all the way. They're tiny, super easy to use with great support and an excellent app where you can immediately download footage. Decent photos and great video. Just make sure you get one with a screen and buy a couple of extra batteries with an external charger. And then you have the bonus that you can wear it wherever you want and get some other perspectives. And if you get one with a case, they're exceptionally robust and should the worse happen you just buy another case.
