hi all, after some forum research, im trying to fit a land rover defender 83-90 clutch master and slave cylinder to a reliant scimitar se6, because oem clutch cylinders are stupid money, but im struggling to find a clutch line for it.
i went to my local auto car parts store to see if they could do it but they didnt have the right fittings, which is what im struggling to find, does anyone know what size fittings are on these cylinders, or of a company i could go to to get one made?
thanks in advance.

Some local hydraulic hose shops might be able to offer something, Pirtek etc.

But for an old British car like that, surely there are dozens of suppliers of such parts ? And they'd be fairly standard imperial threads etc ?

Try Paddocks.

LR went metric around 1980 or so - my '80 s3 is a right mix of metric and Dibnah, so bits for a 90/110 would almost certainly be metric, with the perfectly normal M10x1.0 brake pipe unions.

Land Rover used an odd size off pipe for there clutch hydraulics, think it was 1/4 inch, used to be used on some commercial vehicles but probably best trying a Land Rover specialist.

Short flexi from slave to chassis, where it joins a DIY flared metal line to master. It's the way LR do it...

If you're after a custom flexi fitting, Russ will sort you out : https://furoreproducts.co.uk/custom-brake-hoses
He's on PH too, or certainly was in the past. Does a lot in the kitcar scene and great service.

That is an unusually long flexible pipe, so yes a custom made one will be the only option.

It's a doddle to make your own teflon hoses, any length you want, with whatever fittings you want.

Have you bought the cylinder already? What's the part#? There must be a reference for what the fittings are...

That's the imperial one.
This is the metric one.

Like I said, it doesn't go all the way to the master, because that'd be silly, and no manufacturer ever does that.
It goes to a metal line which goes to the master. Standard M10 x 1.0 unions, unless it IS an imperial one, then it's standard 3/8" UNF x 24tpi unions, which are pretty damn close, but not quite. I can't remember which way, but male one/female other is a loose fit, vice-versa binds very quickly.

I think the imperial one persisted until the mid 80s at least. The pipe on my Land Rover is male at both ends (giggedy).

My 1980 88" is a mix of imperial and metric all over, right at the time they were changing. 3brg 2.25, but with 11" TLS/servo.

I don't recall which the clutch is (I've changed the slave), but I'm fairly sure the brakes were metric.

That is useful to know. I was never certain when they changed over, although I was sure it was around the time that the 5brg engine was introduced.
