Hi guys,

I have a problem with my front drivers window. Last week it was playing up and it wouldn't go up but eventually after clicking the button it'll finally go up. But now for the past few days it's stayed down (20/30 cm from the top). Anyone got an idea of the problem. I was wondering if it was the regulator or the motor but just seeing if anyone's got any experience in this field? Thanks in advance

Motors do play up but usually it’s either the switch or broken wires in the rubber boot that goes from the car to door, they make and break so the fault can be very intermittent.
There is a reset procedure for some manufacturers windows, a quick google will help here.

Thanks Belle427,

I did take the motor off and give it a good clean and looked at all the wires leading from the drivers door to the motor but there was no splits or broken wires. I did do a scan with my car scan tool and it came up with this. The window went back up and down today then stopped again roughly at 30cm from the top again. Over heating motor? (Photo attached)

On some cars you can reset/calibrate the one touch feature, maybe worth a try on yours.
Wind the window down and keep holding the switch for around 5 seconds after it stops, then do the same on the way up.
May have to do this a few times.
Not quite sure if it works on the vws.
