Cars you instantly regret selling… just happened to me
Discussion
Hello folks
Well, it has finally happened after owning 20+ cars. This week I parted ways with an awesome Subaru Impreza WRX 53k miles in Sonic blue. I adored this car, and would always look back at it after parking and walking away.
This was the car that got me into being a petrol head when I was young. I can still remember being at the WRC event in Wales and this ridiculously fast, AWD monster came through the forest completely sideways right in front of me. It was at that moment my grandad and I were utterly speechless and I had to find out what this 555 liveried, flame-spitting monster was.
My reason for selling is I would like to buy a BMW M140i, but I am now tempted to buy a WRX STI to be my new garage queen.
What cars have you guys sold, only to realise that you've made a HUGE mistake?
Here is a pic of the old girl. She will be missed

Evo VI TME, silver with nice 18" speedlines and a few other mods including Blitz Nur exhaust.
Watching it drive off was definitely a bit of a moment.
I am not sure that it was anything but the right thing to do but I do recall knowing at that moment that it was unlikely I would ever own one again.
As for the other cars, I always returned them to standard spec before selling which meant I didn't feel the attachment as it was no longer "mine" or "my spec" so to speak which made it easier.

The one that stands out for me is my 1970 Chevrolet Camaro RS. Imported it from the States as a 21st birthday present to myself and ran it every day in every weather for 2 years. I only advertised it as a moment of madness and before I knew it the cash was handed over and she was driving away. Hindsight is an incredible thing, and that is the one car I wish I still had today.

No wish to rub it but my god that is beautiful!

OP, I feel your pain, sometimes a car just gets under your skin, that WRX looks to be a nice example.
My regret was an Evo VI TME. It was a white import with the TME stripes and white Makinen alloys. Looked the part and drove like a dream, I don't think I've driven a better car since or before it for that matter. It was around 370bhp/350lbs ft, had bigger brakes, coilovers with a fast road set up and sticky tyres. I'd love to have one in my garage forever but looking to move house in a few years and can't justify buying another, I should never have sold it! (My P1 is going this year too).
When I sold it I met the buyer half way between where we lived and enjoyed every second of that last drive, taking the longer route via local B roads
. When I handed the keys over and he fired it up and slowly drove away, my heart sank. It shouldn't have as I'd bought a fresh import high powered VIII MR, but I just knew I was going to regret selling it for a long time and still miss it today.
I sold it with circa 55K miles on clock 2 years ago, it was rust-free and was so clean on the underside

WOW!! What a beauty, I totally feel your pain from just looking at the pictures. I hope you got a good deal on selling the Evo, as that car will be worth a few extra £££ these days. Do you have any pictures of the P1? I adore these cars, they're just so 90s (my favourite era of car design).
This warm weather is making me miss my Mx5 NB very much! Sold it in April after pressure from my wife and yes, its one of those cars that you really miss dearly.
I think an Impreza Turbo is one of those cars that has no modern equivalent. A mate of mine kept his 11 year old example when he bought himself a Jag F Type Coupe as a weekend car as he couldn't bear to part with it and I cant blame him.

I am with you, the only car I truly regret selling was my Evo VI RS, was in excellent condition with less than 20k miles on it, and I sold it for less than I really should have at a time when they weren't fetching a lot of money, but the reason I regret the sale the most was, that it was the last car i've owned that was purely for the fun of driving it.greenarrow said:

There really isn't anything that I've driven which comes close to the driving experience in an Impreza. I loved how docile the car was while in the turbo lag section of the rev range, and then the surge of power from 4k was addictive. Oh, and then there is the noise. My god! On a cold morning while out for a hoon the car sounded epic. fI think an Impreza Turbo is one of those cars that has no modern equivalent. k! I shouldn't have sold the car My beloved Triumph 2000. Unfortunately being young, poor, and with not much free time, I neglected it and sold it. Still miss it, and would buy it back tomorrow. Even my GF sweetly said to me that "if it comes up on ebay, I think you might have to buy it"
Apparently some
has painted it blue, by hand. Also, it's kind of why I've kept my E34, because I couldn't bear to make the same mistake again.
This was a head over heart decision a few months ago. I do regret it in some respects as it's the best car I've ever owned (and possible will ever own), in others though, there was some relief as daily driving a near 20 year old handmade go-kart wasn't the easiest of challenges!
It's now living in the Netherlands. I hope the new owner loves & looks after it as much as I did! I'd love to know what happens with it next.

With a baby on the way I saw my owned-from-new TVR rumble off into the distance in 2004 and I didn’t like it one bit.
I’ve sort of over compensated since then.
That must have been devastating. What TVR was it, and what have you overcompensated it with now? I’ve sort of over compensated since then.
