No for the first 55 minutes he was taking photo's of a twig.

Lovely shot. If I was to be picky I'd say it would be slightly easier from the side as then the leg would probaly be in focus too, but you may lose the nice coloration on the "saddle" over the back. Swings and roundabouts I guess

Macro really is fascinating & hugely frustrating at the same time isn't it? The minimal depth of field make focus so critical and with insects that then decide to move a limb just ever so slightly
