Just replacing the stepper so cleaning around the face and on the old unit there is a gasket. There was no gasket with the new TVR Parts item, does it need one as the old one split removing it?

Yes.

Looks like the OE one they sell comes without whereas the "high quality OE replacement part manufactured in America" they also supply comes with.

To be honest, not very difficult to either make a suitable gasket or measure up the size you need and have a look on the eBay wink

I used an O-Ring and just screwed it up finger tight...a spanner will easily crack the body if too much effort is applied.

Sounds similar to buying pistons without rings

All you want is an air tight seal, so PTFE around the tread will work just as well.

Did mine yesterday - PTFE tape and hand tighten. Works a treat.

Hi all,
Many thanks for the comments and advice. New stepper fitted and checked operationally using Roverguage to open and close ok. Initial running was a little lumpy to start but run her up to temp then a short run around 50 mph to settle in the stepper. Still didn't seem to be running 100% so back in the garage. Quick cheque over and all seems ok so while she was still at normal temp switched off and disconnected the ECU for 5 mins. Reconnected ECU, start up nice and smooth with tickover fine so then a 5 mile run through town and dual carriageway to get the ECU back inline.
After all this its running a treat so thanks again for the comments etc.

Mark (Blitz) I left the Roverguage attached and logging while doing the 5 mile run though the laptop went to sleep around mile 4. I've dropped the log into a spread sheet is this something you could eyeball and see if it all looks OK?
