Firestick/media player type device for dumb TV advice.
Discussion
OK I have a decent but dumb lcd TV with HDMI inputs...
I also have no TV aerial to it, so it's basically a monitor.
I would like an HDMI plug in device that can do iplayer/itv player etc over a wireless network, and that can play files from USB storage. I have zillions of films on portable hdd drives..
I'm not interested in KODI/Sport/Football/Netflix etc etc
I don't have an amazon prime account etc or use Alexa.
I have Google mini's and play music accounts so maybe Android/Chrome?
Any recommendations? Thanks

Apart from the playing files from USB I'd also suggest a Chromecast.
For the occasional playback of local files I use bubbleUPNP to play stuff via my PC to the Chromecast but most of my use is streaming.
If you're happy to involve a PC (or maybe a NAS) then the Chromecast can do what you want but if one of the main uses is USB playback then something else might be better.
