A4 B7 1.9 PD

Very Very close to buying a A4 B7 1.9 PD avant

only thing is im thinking it may be a little under powered but after a conversation with a local MOT tester who says every car that he has tested thats been mapped since the MOT rule changes has failed on emissions so i have three questions

1. is the engine underpowered ?
2. does anyone have any experiance with using a chip box or re mapping the 1.9 TDI ?
3.How much truth in there in this certain MOT tester ?

I had a B5 Passat with the 130 pd engine and although it’s a bit agricultural it’s a good strong unit.
Won’t set the world alight performance wise but pulls strongly low down, runs out of puff quite early though.
I can’t comment on the remap but most people opt for the cheap ones or tuning boxes which are known to create a lot of smoke.
A good remap from a respected company should be fine but speak to the company first to confirm any issues.

A good map it shouldn't fail.

I have the A4 1.9 PD130 Turbo fitted to my old 90bhp 1.9 engine in my MK2 Golf and its running a strong 170bhp, goes well.
