Series 2A - rebuild in 1 week.

Good Morning,

Next week i am flying into the UK to rebuild my late Fathers Series 2A. 3 years ago he took it off the road to sort some rust issues out and fix the wiring. He sorted all the rust and ripped out the wiring loom. Shortly before he got really ill he ordered a replacement loom. Its been under a tarp since.

I have ordered a set of fixing nuts and bolts as the front body work has been removed and the new wiring loom is there. So my questions are .

1. Apart from a Halfords advanced socket set (the big one) and a multimeter that I am borrowing from my brother law – Can anyone envisage any other tools I need to acquire before hand?
2. Does anyone know what the wiring loom routing is? Or where I can find such information out?

Not sure where to post things, so going with General classics as a start.

I assume this is a Land Rover S2A?

How certain are you that it's only needing that work, and of the condition of the rest of it?

yes, sorry its a typo. Series 2A. 1966 or 69 i think.

Im fairly confident in its condition. No issues apart from rust on previous MOT's and thats been dealt with. Engine is a 5 bearing MOD unit thats hardly been used. So baring some new fuel i think it will run just fine. Nothing was stiff or stuck the last time i looked around it.

Obviously if i find something major then it wont be back to working order in a week, but id like to get the majority of the work done and any other bits i can leave to the brother in law to sort.

I don't know much about Land Rovers, or Halfords advanced socket sets, but won't the LR be imperial? Does the Halfords socket set have imperial stuff, or is it all metric?

The socket set should have both and will be fine for fitting the front bodywork

Depending on the loom you may need a crimp tool, pliers, side cutters and various terminals - plus obviously a set of screwdrivers

I vaguely remember from when I did mine that the front-rear section of the loom runs inside the chassis, so a piece of curtain wire may avoid several hours of swearing to help guide it through.

im just inquiring about the imperial bits in the socket set. If not ill have to beg from other friends in the UK to borrow theirs.
