Flight case advice please.

I just bought a used rifle case and it needs a little renovation.

It's mechanically sound and fine inside but someone's covered it (badly) in black
sticky back plastic (get down Shep).

This stuff's bubbling and coming off the top and underside and it's stuck over the original black (aluminium with
tiny raised dots) panelling over wood and it's separating from its sticky backing in places.

I've been casting around for an alternative covering and have found these...

Black Fablon again.

Black baize felt sticky back sheet.

3D carbon fibre stick-on in carbon fibre finish, in charcoal or silver grey (could look pretty trick)'

The case is 4ft long x 13 in x 5.1/2 deep. It has alloy frames with hinges at the back,
four overcentre latches and a combination lock up front. This gear and the carrying handle are all mint.

It looks like I may be able to strip the Fablon off so I can see what state the ally's in.

So, massed brains of PH, any suggestions? The ally may also be fine but I'd
like to add some protection against bumps and scratches.
