Hi guys, new to the forum and new to Porsche ownership. I've just bought a 987 in great condition which I love but I can't get on with the 19 inch wheels and would much prefer to try some 18 inch ones to see if it rides our dreadful roads any better. I've got the original Lobster Claw ones on at the moment and would ideally like 18 inch versions of the same wheel but am at a complete loss as to what I need to look for. I understand the tyre size should be 235/40 R18 and 265/40 R18 but I keep hearing things about offsets, spacers, etc. Does anyone have the time to run me through an idiots guide as to what I need to look for on replacement wheels please. Do the two numbers by the valve mean a size and is that an easy identification. I really don't want to shell out a fortune on the wrong wheels.
Many thanks.

Not sure if I understand your question, but the tyre size you mentioned is correct for 18" alloys. Basically just a higher profile than the 19's you currently have fitted.

I would be interested in your Lobster alloys wink

Thanks for the reply, I really just want to know how I make sure I buy the correct sized wheels to replace my 19 inch ones, the best I can come up with is 8J ET57 front and 9J ET43 rear but even that is contradicted by some. Am I getting there or is there anything else I need to make sure off first. My 19 inch ones are unmarked and I'd hang onto them until I was sure I preferred the 18 inch ones but would get eventually get rid of the ones I least prefered.

This agrees with you on wheel size and PCD.

Interesting, thanks but didn't think the 17" wheels fitted on a Boxster S 987?
