Cleaning the engine bay
Discussion
I was going to have a bash at this myself this weekend, i bought some of the AutoGlym engine cleaner and it also advises protecting the electrical bits.
It says spray on a cold engine, agitate with a paint brush, then rinse off with water.
The only concern (other than causing a lifetime of electrical problems) is whether the cleaner will take the Waxoil off the chassis members within the engine bay?

Don't get the GUNK foam stuff....
...it's crap...
Get the traditional liquid spray, make sure you sray onto a COLD engine, or very barely warm, and work into all the crevises with a small brush, leave FIVE minutes, and rinse off, but NOT with too much pressure...
Cover all vunerable electrical parts, (such as distributor caps) with cellophane first though.......
(all imho)...

I use Autoglym Engine Cleaner with good results.
Cover the dizzy, spark plugs and anything else electrical with a mixture of cling flim, freezer bags and elestic bands. Spray the cleaner onto the engine when cold, agitate with a stiff nylon brush and then rinse off with a watering can. I then take the car out for a good run to get it nice and warm to assist the drying process.
Have to say, the first time I poured the water on was a bit 'exciting' but I've done it a few times since with no ill effects...
Once it's all nice and dry, I use Autoglym Metal Polish on the swirl and expansion tanks, as well as the plenum - finishes it off nicely

It is done , unfortunatly my fontango is playing up I have some before and after shots, if someone could post them up it would be much appreciated.
I also went for the autoglym gear, worked well, I covered the dizzy and flow meter with cling film, unfortunatly someone has painted the plenum, and not too well either, it shed a bit of it's silver paint, (another job)
Mine started first time and ran with no ill effects.

Use www.tinypic.com/ to host your piccies very easy.
I use the AutoGlym stuff on my Focus engine bay, comes up a treat, leave it damo then spray on the Autoglym Bumper and Rubber stuff, leaves it all nice and shiney.
