A non-audiophile buying a DAP - Sony vs A&K
Discussion
Hi folks,
I am by no means an audiophile, however I do like the idea of getting a DAP, partly because I want a standalone player and partly because I like the looks.
I had my heart set on the Sony NW ZX300. However, in the same price bracket, I could get the Astell and Kern AK70 ii. The general consensus is that the Sony sounds clearer, but the A&K is more dynamic. Also, the Sony lacks the power to drive some headphones to the limit.
Now my question is, being a non-audiophile, will I even be able to tell the difference?

Bit of a juggling scenario. Certain headphones will pair better with certain players due to their sound signature. A portable amp and DAC can also clean up the sound if it's really needed.
For me, the more important things to consider with a DAP are features, battery life and user interface. You want something that's gonna hold a good charge and that doesn't lag when you scroll through libraries.
