Came across my old one the other day - last used about 20 years ago.

What a good idea - a personal organiser that doesn't need charging up, never runs out of juice, simple and quick to use, never runs out of memory and never shuts itself down or whinges about being upgraded.

I am bringing it back into service.

Anybody else still use one?

My Dad. He's 84.

There's stuff in it from 1986 right up until this week. In fact he only stopped using his Psion organiser a couple of years ago.

You know, it may not be a bad idea. Back in the day I had one and TBH it may still surpass a lot of tech. today for most people.
Instant, accessible and doesn't need charging. And... you can use it on the move (that's not a good idea though)

Always. And then file the year at the year end. Might go for the bigger version this year.

I use two of the bigger ones.

I'm secretary of a football club and use one for all the paperwork relating to the admin stuff. The other one is for all the other contracts I have.

And if you lose it your lose everything... all your contacts, calendar entries personal data that is written in plain text.

I'll stick to my secure, cloud-based solution thanks grandad!

Still use mine, had it since mid-eighties.

The bulk of it is two address books: one for friends and family, the other for everything else.
Every number in my mobile's phone book is in there.
And all my passwords.

That is mind blowing. Your passwords? Seriously?

Finally ditched my A5 sized one earlier this year after 25yrs service.

I realised that I already had most of the information contained in it on my phone/pc, so what was the point of lugging the extra weight around?

Haven't missed it since smile

I had one back in day. I used to forget to write things down so binned it. headache However if you don't write anything down (my handwritings crap so can't decipher it anyway) you do develop a terrific memory. wink

Never used one myself but know of quite a few people who do and never thought of it as strange or antiquated personally.

Hardly shocking people write passwords down, I know of loads that do, or keep them in a notebook on their phone that isn’t locked or protected with a passcode etc.

I worked for a company when these first came out and a super salesman convinced our head of training that you needed a three day training course to really learn how to use it effectively.

6 of us went to a very nice hotel in the New Forest and had three days of utter training padded out. It was okay to use but the big desk diary I had was all I needed, but by the time we had these for a couple of years you could hardly lift them with all the business cards filed in them.

The food and drink was fantastic as was the early finishes and late starts

My first thought on seeing the word Filofax was of a machine used to transmit Turkish pastry.
