OK first post but probably the best place to ask I guess. If not apologies and shoot me down! Can anyone shed soem informed information ont he following scenario...

Purchased a used car (Megane Scenic) from a used car dealer last Saturday. Drove it home OK and sat on drive until current car collected which was Thursday. As soon as I switched it on brake error appeared, dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree then blank. Attempting to start results in fans whirring and wind screen wipers moving but no engine start. Informed dealer who fobbed me off with excuse battery probably needs charging (has already tried that). Anyway got RAC to have a look and he tried for 1.5 hours including new battery and was just giving electronic errors of all descriptions. Couldn't start it. Informed dealer, will call you back. no call. Tried chasing all today and finally get a call this evening and the sum of the conversation was they are not willing to cover cost of transporting back to them. Was quite dismissive of the consumer rights act and then got arsey and told me not to call him on that number again and hung up.

So looks like I am going to have to fork out to get it shipped back to them and then try and get money back for the car at least. Pretty sure they will not budge on transport cost which probably leaves me the small claims court I guess if anything.

tia.

What kind of a dealer was it?...working off a bomb site, or proper pukka showroom?

How old is the car, mileage and price?

All dealers have certain legal obligations...you say you drove it home all right?

Must be fairly serious if the RAC can't get it going in over an hour.
