Tiptronic revs

Tiptronic, in manual mode, weird thing happens with the revs at around 2250 rpm, drops back by say 750rpm (happens in second and third with steady throttle). Feels a bit like clutch slip - which obvoiusly it isn't. Something to do with variable valve timing? Doesn't feel right though.....
