Bought my first Smart car in 1998. At that time my dad was transporting LHD smart cars into the UK for a dealer
in Brentford. I really liked the Smart pure that i had and went on to have various SMART 42's up until a few years ago.
In 2003 my brother was delivering cars to Manheims car auction and told be about 3 Smart crossblades being sold.
They were all less than 3 months old and had been bought as investments by a dealer. I missed the auction, but this car was unsold.
After the auction, I rang the dealer and for a substantial discount over the original purchase price, i had the car.
I have owned the car since around oct 2003. It doesn't get used a lot and has less than 2000 miles on the clock.
(The mot history stated miles, but it is kilometres) Car is great fun to drive.
For a car that is 15 years old, it still gets a lot of looks. The car seats and interior, is covered in wet suit material.I Drive the car with my snowboard helmet on after being hit in the face, by a fly at speed. It hurt a lot.
I loved these when I saw the press pictures all those years ago.
I think I’ve only ever seen one out on the road - the uk was never going to be a successful market for something like that.
There can’t be many left - looks like something fun to use for the 8 weeks of decent weather we get each year.

Yes full face helmet is required to drive it. Inside of the car is made out of wet suit neoprene, with drain holes
should the car get wet. It has the first generation smart 600cc turbo engine. I have seen the smartsuki with
a suzuki motorbike engine. It would be mad in this. Most seem to be in the south of France with 2000 being
made. They were never offered for sale in the UK through smart dealers. All are grey imports.

Going rate is around the 20k mark. I paid £7100 delivered in 2003 with less than 20 kilometers on the clock.
Apart from having to get the key recoded once and a couple of batteries. The can has had no other work to it.
Still the original tyres. I know the tyres are 15 years old, but there is no perishing on them at all. Will take some
more photos tonight in the garage.

I use to own one of these. Great fun to drive on short journeys.
Tried buying another last year from Belgium, sadly the owner turned out to be a complete arse, so walked away from it.
I like odd ball cars, had a lotus 340r as well around the same time. Will have to did out the photos.
