Hi all
long time lurker, first time poster. Hoping to tap into the collective mind as I find myself coming to the end of a PCP
BMW 320GT - final payment is in region of 15k and 2xBMW franchises are offering me no better than 13k and pushing me to VT the car and come with a deposit. Previously went from a 3door Golf GTD to a brand new A4 Black Edition Avant to the brand new GT with no problems in getting a trade in previously. They tell me no one wants a used diesel - then try and sell me a new diesel!
Fly in the ointment is a dent in the passengers door where I mistimed a corner in a multistory car park..... Can anyone with experience help me understand what BMW would charge if I did the VT and let them asses the damage and charge me? there is no way they wont spot it!
Also, anyone with any good recommendations for a dealer/garage who would fix at around cost if I was purchasing a new car from them? Pref in Herts but willing to travel to make a deal
I've done the 3door up to the estate for the 2 kids through the GT shape for prams, now but more flexibility on what to get next. I only commute 20miles a day round trip plus weekends away so not heavy use. I read a thread similar to my situation and saw S4 Avant win out...but I had one of them last (albeit a 2.0d) Ive enjoyed the BMW but do fancy a change. Maybe my chance to get something proper fast for a while too. Can raise a deposit + monthly as per last 10 years or borrow lump from the bank - Have never considered leasing - what would the recommendation here of a way to proceed?
Thanks in Advance

3 series GT in my opinion is ugly and I believe it’s not a good seller and therefore not a great used purchase. BMW unlike Audi don’t seem as skilled at making variations on models in order to gain customers.
There is uncertainty in the market around diesels indeed we are trying to get flex lease cars and other than a Volvo S90 it was hard to get a diesel. I was offered Tucson and other Petrol cross overs and they eventually found me a petrol 3 series and my colleague a petrol 4 series. The petrol 3 series does 38-47mpg on petrol.
Dealer wants rid of diesel but doesn’t want you gt as it’s not easy to shift is my guess.
20 Miles a day doesn’t warrant a diesel. Think your a classic diesel driver who really has the wrong engine.
My commute is 90 Miles or 60 Miles and even then modern petrols stack up,

Agree - I'd be happy to walk away at cost neutral, I see others with a similar spec and mileage on autotrader closer to 18-20k so there is money in it
Been a nice car to spend 38k miles inside
The GT range don’t seem very common. Friend chopped his focus st mk3 for a 530d gt as it was cheap and lost a lot of its value.Been a nice car to spend 38k miles inside

What car are you looking at? 18-20k is windscreen price not selling they are probably not a book car. Those cars could of been sat for 6 months, also if a dealer has struggled to get rid of 3 gt before they might be holding back as the car has to be cheap to trade or have some float in it.
Other things that we had when I was in the trade was if it’s a base spec or has a weird colour interior/ exterior combo that can cause low balling.

If you are ore to the end of term you don't need to VT - simply exercise your right to return it or if you think you'd get more than GFV then sell it privately or PX it a place that will give you more
My issue and question here is the damage to the passenger door. I could make the call tomorrow but trying to find out what I'm likely going to be charged, Do BMW charge BMW prices for repairs? Im 4 payments from the end so can easily be done, just dont want a nasty surprise / don't know anywhere to get it fixed to pass inspection as never dealt with such a thing beforesurveyor_101 said:

what would the estimate on windscreen price to actual price be - would be useful to know if I go down the route of a bank loan and buy a usedWhat car are you looking at? 18-20k is windscreen price not selling they are probably not a book car. its a lovely Estoril Blue, Msport plus, Pro Nav, I dont think they were very popular with the 4 series coming along at the same time
