Coats

I will shortly be starting a job involving a commute via train (public transport shocker) but to get to said train i will be walking.

This means i will have to get a coat a little more water proof than the usual shirt i wear as i run to an air conditioned car.

In the event of a heavy downpour what recommendations does anyone have for a decent make of coat, will be doing a proper shop in shops this weekend and next week but in the short term suggestions and web links appreciated

I'd go with a Barbour.

May be too warm for a crowded train, but you won't get wet...

something lightweight. If your trains are anything like mine you'll be packed in like sardines with no aircon and all the windows shut so that those luck enough to get a seat don't get the odd rain drop hit them

Single layer goretex from a company such as Berghaus would be perfect. Totally watertight, lightweight and breathable.

Yep good for the outdoors and mountains

As a barbour is good for the dogs and horses

If it's just for work, then get a work raincoat. M&S to Armani, I've got a nice Austin Reed one but I think they've gone a bit down market recently
