I think there are some sick people on here

Just because somebody is not very good at driving a car it is no excuse to wish cancer on them

This term is being used a lot here latly I can assume that the moderators find it acceptable nobody else here seems to complain about it

It must be just me that finds it very wrong Maybe I am just too soft to know anything about driving

Yes, I have seen similar. I just note the name and mark them out and ignore them.

I presume you've reported the offending posts to the admins?

Just for clarity, NO we don't.

We are unable to read every post on every thread, if you find anything on the forums that offends then just report the post and we'll look into it.

I am having Chemo right now. 3 years of treatment, ops, scares, scars and sick.

I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

However, I’ve been told “I hope whatever you have kills you” said to me in a Cancer hospital car park by someone who thought I’d ‘stolen’ their parking space (there was a queue madam).

She threatened to call ‘911’ so I said fine, we’ll just sit here for 8 hours while they fly from America.

I’ve been called ‘baldy’ by a chap in a builders pickup, when he seemed to object to me being in a convertible. Holding up a bottle attached to my arm with a tube and saying “that’ll be the chemo then” shut him up and his orange bottle tanned Doris looked at me in horror.

People can be idiots. Me included.

Yes, I made the cancer comment and you chose to be offended by it.

I don't feel bad about what I said, not because I'm a sociopath, but because it was a non-specific exaggeration. I wasn't actually suggesting there should be a government-sponsored programme whereby people are taken away to an institution to be given cancer. That would be, at best, unusual.

When I watch episodes of South Park and Cartman is shouting "I hope you die, I hope you goddam die!" into Kyle's face, I don't pen letters to Comedy Central telling them how awful it is that a 9-year old child would say this to one of his friends.

My comment was non-specific and not targeted at an individual, yet you happily, very directly called me a c*nt on the same thread, which would you suggest you're entirely happy with being offensive, so long as somebody isn't using a word you think people shouldn't use.

I feel sorry for the poster above who had a particularly unpleasant person target him with his cancer. That's pretty despicable by any measure. Cancer is a terrible thing to endure and I've personally witnessed it eat away and destroy members of my own family but I will still maintain that it can be funny in the right context. In fact, anything can be funny in the right context.

Where would you like to draw the line on this? The thread was about people tailgating and some people appeared to be advocating it. Should the whole thread have been removed to avoid offending the families of those that have died when drivers have stoved into the back of them? Should any thread where there's even a suggesting of speed be removed to appease those that may have lost someone under the wheels of a speeding motorist? If you look hard enough, you can choose - and it as a choice - to be offended by anything but there's a world of difference between:

a) making a joke or throwaway exaggeration about cancer/AIDS/rape/paedophilia and;
b) telling a specific person that you hope they get cancer/get aids/get raped/meet Jimmy Saville.

If you genuinely can't distinguish between the two then I really feel sorry for you.

I don't feel bad about what I said and I'm not sorry if you chose to be offended by it.

If you don't like what someone says, have the argument with them yourself. Don't go running to the moderators to police things for you unless it's something like defamation or giving out someone's personal information etc.

And with that we'll bring this to a close, as I've previously stated, if you find it offensive report it and it will be looked into.
