As in title, after scrutineering on monday afternoon, I'd fancy a (more than) decent curry. Do you know of a good place to go, not the only-good-at-3am-after-a-binge kind of place?

Thx in advance,

Vince

For a decent curry in france, cook it yourself.

the French don't really 'do' curries, most of our B-in -L's friends try it once but never seemed too impressed bar one who's from the South and grew up with spicy Spanish/French foods.
strangely enough though you can get the ingredients from the Supermarkets?

from memory a lot of the better Restaurants in the Old Town were shut on the Monday we went to scrutineering so be prepared for a wander around maybe?

Chinese seems to be taking a hold slowly but mostly Buffet style which can be hit or miss, eaten at the one on Mulsanne out of race time, probably won't bother again, nothing special TBH

You are in France. Why the fk would you go looking for a curry? Live. Be different.

You could always do what I have done in the past.
bought some take away curries, freeze them then transport them down in a refrigerated cold box packed with ice then re heat them. (we did this on a Ski holiday a couple of years back) Tasted fantastic. lick

Be different, don't eat different types of cuisine... Interesting logic.

I take it you think because vincegail's in France they should only eat at French restaurants, like maybe Buffalo Grill?

Spoke to some English guys who were completely hammered before the parade, eating take away onion bhaji's from there during the race a few years back - seemed ok...

Buffalo Grill is NOT french cuisine, its truly awful ,amongst the worst food I've ever had but France and Le Mans is full of excellent restaurants, food is a way of life in France in the way it will never be here - hence the complete colonisation of our island by Chinese and indian cuisine.

Go to somewhere that looks french, order something a bit more adventurous than a steak and you'll likely be very happy indeed.

You're right. Will eat out in a French cuisine restaurant where the chef has won 'young french chef' last year later in the week, but now I fancy a curry. Thank you for your constructive and helpful reply smile

Visited the Bombay place (Taj Mahal was closed, so not an option). The three of us thoroughly enjoyed the food biggrin

I’ll give it a try sometime, when Le Mans is not as busy. Maybe next week.
It’s about 4 years since I visited Bombay and I was not impressed but I’ll give it a go.

Ah, Buffalo Grill, the home of that mysteriously named dish ‘Slicey Beef’...

Did the Taj Mahal this year after sunday's scrutineering. Was nice too, not really any difference between the Bombay and TM, both are very well worth visiting.
