Can anyone tell me of a simple way of excluding/disabling IE within the BAT script?

How do you mean within a batch file?

Do you just want to remove access to IE for a specific user on a specific machine?

3 people have been abusing the internet somewhat, so i need to exclude them. I wanted to do it through their login script

Start>Run gpedit.msc

Now I've looked and I am a bit out of my depth but if you google for XP Group Policies there will be information as to how to do it as it can definately be done.

There may be a slightly more useful PH'er along in a moment though...

Yeah ive been looking under the gpedit MMC but i couldnt find anything that really works, other than forcing an incorrect proxy server setting!

Hopefully someone has the answer

thanks for your thoughts though

Ah ha, sorted!

Right

Run gpedit.msc

Navigate in the tree to:

Local Computer Policy>User Configuration>Administrative Templates>System

On the right hand side you should now have a list of things within System (like Explorer)

Then if you double click 'Dont Run Specified Windows Applications' and add the path to IE in the dialog that pops up, you're sorted.

Oh and you have to do this on each of the machines you want to disallow IE on.

Easiest way is probably using Remote Desktop Connection.

You could add the users to a new group and lock internet access down with GP, there is a several ways of doing this, one would be to set a bogus proxy server into their GP.

What type of Server/workstations do you use?.

Edited to say.... Damn too slow!
